It is the first humanoid discussed as a consumer product. It is not available for events in Europe before 2027, though — and even then it is a home robot, not an event machine.

Manufacturer: 1X Technologies
1X was founded in 2014 in Moss, Norway as Halodi Robotics; it is now headquartered in Palo Alto, California and manufactures in Hayward (capacity 10,000 units a year, target 100,000 a year by the end of 2027). Founder and CEO Bernt Øivind Børnich. NEO's predecessor was the wheeled humanoid EVE for logistics and security (140 units for ADT). Investors: OpenAI Startup Fund, EQT Ventures (USD 100M Series B), Samsung NEXT; in August 2026 media reported talks with SoftBank about a majority stake at a valuation of around USD 6B (unconfirmed).
History and generations
NEO Beta unveiled 30 August 2024, NEO Gamma 21 February 2025 (sleeker, home-optimised design), the consumer NEO opened pre-orders on 28 October 2025 — first-year capacity sold out in five days and more than 10,000 orders arrived in the first week. The Hayward factory opened on 30 April 2026 and new 25-DoF hands were announced on 9 July 2026. As of September 2026 the press reports no verified deliveries to private customers.

Frequently asked questions about 1X NEO
- Can 1X NEO be hired for an event in Czechia or the EU?
- No. NEO ships to US customers first and international sales are due to start in 2027. ROBOTio does not have it in its fleet; at events we deploy the Unitree G1 and H2.
- How much does 1X NEO cost?
- The manufacturer lists USD 20,000 to buy (Early Access, 3-year warranty) or USD 499 a month, with a USD 200 deposit. That applies to the USA; 1X has not published a European price.
- Is NEO fully autonomous?
- Partly. It handles everyday tasks on its own; for unknown tasks the owner can book a remote 1X operator (Expert Mode) who guides the robot, which then learns the task.
- How safe is NEO at home?
- It has a soft body, a lightweight 30 kg tendon-driven frame, 22 dB noise and software no-go zones. The manufacturer has not published certifications yet.
- When will NEO come to Europe?
- 1X announces international expansion from 2027. As soon as it opens EU orders we will notify the people who leave us their contact.
