Walker S2 is an industrial humanoid by UBTECH that can autonomously swap its own battery in 3 minutes. However, you can't rent it for a corporate event. What can it do and what can replace it?
UBTECH Walker S2 is an industrial humanoid 176 cm tall and weighing 70 kg, which according to the manufacturer can independently walk to a charging station and swap its own battery in 3 minutes. It has been in serial production since November 2025 and is headed for factories, not stages. ROBOTio does not rent or sell it, so don't count on it for corporate events. If you want a humanoid among your guests, we offer [Unitree G1](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-basic) or H2 from our own fleet, always with two operators per robot. ## What is Walker S2 Walker S2 is manufactured by Shenzhen-based [UBTECH](https://robotio.eu/brands/ubtech), founded in 2012 by Zhou Jian. The company has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 29 December 2023 (9880.HK) and employs approximately 2,000 people. In addition to the Walker series, it manufactures service robots Cruzr, delivery robots CADEBOT, and educational building kits. In February 2026, it released the open-source model Thinker. The path to S2 went through several generations: - **Walker (2024)**, the first version of the series. - **Walker S1 (October 2024)**, deployed at BYD, NIO and Zeekru. - **Walker S2**: demonstrated 17 July 2025, unveiled 23 July 2025 ahead of WAIC in Shanghai. Product manual V1.0 is dated 23 September 2025 and serial production has been running since 17 November 2025. You can find the complete profile on the [UBTECH Walker S2](https://robotio.eu/ubtech-walker-s2) page. ## Technical specifications (manufacturer data) - **Height and weight:** 176 cm, 70 kg (without hands). - **Degrees of freedom:** 30 in the body (legs 2 × 6, waist 2, arms 2 × 7, head 2), plus optional dexterous hands. - **Payload:** 15 kg with both arms. - **Working range:** 0–1.8 m, waist rotation ±162°. - **Battery:** dual hot-swap, approximately 2.5 h runtime, autonomous swap in 3 minutes. - **Computing unit:** x86 and NVIDIA Jetson Orin, Ubuntu and ROSA 2.0, OTA updates. - **Sensors:** depth and fisheye camera, IMU, six-axis force sensors, binocular stereo vision, 4" circular display and microphone array. - **AI:** BrainNet 2.0 and Co-Agent (intent understanding, task planning, anomaly detection), semantic VSLAM and the open-source Thinker model. The manufacturer does not disclose the price; it is negotiated directly with companies or through resellers. ## What the robot can do and where it works The main argument is operation without human intervention. Thanks to autonomous battery swapping, the robot can, according to the manufacturer, operate continuously, 24 hours a day. The industrial agent Co-Agent enables it to understand tasks, plan steps, and independently report deviations from the expected state. The manufacturer lists these deployment areas: - **Automotive:** BYD, Dongfeng Liuzhou, Geely, FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao, Audi FAW and BAIC New Energy. The robot handles parts, inspects quality, and assists with production line logistics. - **Electronics and logistics:** Foxconn and SF Express. - **Aviation:** Airbus procured Walker S2 for aircraft manufacturing (August 2026). On one occasion, the robot even danced in public: three Walkers performed at the opening of the 15th Chinese National Games in 2025. However, this was a one-off manufacturer performance, not a regular event service. ## Production status and availability According to the results, UBTECH delivered a total of 1,079 full-size humanoids in 2025 and a further 921 in the first half of 2026. Small-scale production level of 1,000 units was achieved by the end of 2025. Capacity targets differ in official sources: a press release cites 5,000 units in 2026 and 10,000 in 2027, whilst first-half 2026 results mention 10,000 units already for this year. For Europe, it is noteworthy that UBTECH has an office in Nijmegen in the Netherlands and resellers in the EU. However, the manufacturer has not disclosed certifications for specific EU deployments, so these must be verified for each project individually. At ROBOTio, this applies: rental for events no, sales and import also no. We only monitor availability in Europe. ## What this means for corporate events Walker S2 is built for a controlled manufacturing environment. The manual requires a safety distance of 1.5 m and trained supervision. This is the opposite of what you need at an event where guests crowd around the robot, take photos with it, and talk to it. For this role, Walker is therefore not suitable. Practical implications for organisers: - **Trade shows and technology conferences:** even at the manufacturer's stand, facts about Walker can be used as expert support. We will deploy the humanoid itself to guests from our fleet. More in the [robot at trade shows](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) section. - **Case studies:** the [Brilon Aquatherm at PVA Expo Letňany](https://robotio.eu/case-study/pva-letnany-otevreni-haly) case shows what a humanoid looks like at a trade show stand, where the video achieved over 2 million views. - **Production pilot:** if you want a humanoid on the line, compare Walker S2 with [AgiBot G2](https://robotio.eu/agibot-g2), [Agility Digit](https://robotio.eu/agility-digit) and [Apptronik Apollo](https://robotio.eu/apptronik-apollo). We will help verify the distributor, support and certification. Broader overview in [model comparison](https://robotio.eu/comparison-of-models). ## What to use instead of Walker S2 at an event Unitree G1 measures 135 cm and H2 180 cm, so in size H2 is comparable to Walker. Both robots speak the language the guest addresses them in. Persona and responses are approved in advance, the robot maintains its own balance, and the operator controls direction and gestures. We can deploy up to 4 humanoids at a single event. An overview of all models can be found in the [models](https://robotio.eu/models) section, and if you need something special, there is also [custom robot](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type). ## Frequently asked questions ### Can Walker S2 be rented for an event? No. It is an industrial robot requiring a 1.5 m safety distance and trained supervision. For events, we deploy Unitree G1 and H2. ### How much does Walker S2 cost? UBTECH does not disclose the price. Figures from aggregators do not come from the manufacturer. ### Is Walker S2 available in Europe? UBTECH has an office in Nijmegen and resellers in the EU. The manufacturer has not disclosed certifications for specific deployments, so we will verify them for your project. ### How does the battery swap work? The robot has two batteries with hot-swap capability. It walks to the charging station on its own and swaps the battery in 3 minutes. ## Want a humanoid at your event?
