A Robot That Speaks Your Guest's Language: How It Works

Article summary

How a humanoid at an international event answers guests in their own language, what the robot controls itself, what the operator does, and how the persona and lines are approved in advance.

A humanoid robot at an event replies to a guest in the language in which the guest addresses it. The ROBOTio website works with 13 languages. The robot does not speak "off the cuff": it has a persona and lines prepared in advance, which you approve. The robot maintains its own movement and balance, while the operator controls direction and gestures. Two operators are with each robot throughout. The result is therefore the product of technology, preparation and the people who run the programme on site. ## What "speaks the guest's language" means in practice A guest approaches the robot and greets it in Czech, English or Slovak. The robot replies in the same language. You do not need to explain anything to your guests or ask them to switch language in a menu. At an international event, this removes the situation in which a guest from abroad feels like a second-class visitor. However, the robot is always part of a scenario, not a free-roaming speaker. This is an advantage: at a corporate event, you need it to say nothing you would not want to hear. The difference compared with playing back recorded sentences is noticeable. According to our [comparison of suppliers](https://robotio.eu/humanoid-robot-rental-comparison), it is worth asking every supplier whether the robot merely plays back sentences, or has a defined persona and responds to the guest. ## Who controls what - **The robot itself:** movement and balance. The operator therefore does not need to deal with how the robot stands or walks. - **The operator:** direction, gestures and pace of the programme. The operator adapts the performance to attendance and atmosphere. - **Two operators per robot:** one monitors the interaction, the other the safe zone and the overall flow. We agree the division of roles during preparation. - **You:** you approve the persona and the lines. ## How the persona is prepared The persona is the robot's character: how it speaks, how it addresses guests, how it responds to questions and what it never says. Preparation usually runs in several steps. ### 1. Brief and event objective First, we establish what the robot is meant to achieve. Draw people to your stand? Introduce a speaker? Present awards? The tone is chosen accordingly: formal at a conference, playful at a family festival. ### 2. Draft persona and lines We prepare a draft personality and a set of lines for welcoming, common questions, stage appearances and farewells. We select languages according to your guests: if you expect Czech and Slovak guests and English-speaking partners, we set up those three. ### 3. Approval in advance The persona and lines are approved in advance. This is both a practical and a safety rule. Marketing, PR and production can all see what the robot will say, and can adjust details: product names, forms of address, sensitive topics, humour. ### 4. On-site rehearsal An on-site rehearsal is part of the offer. We check the acoustics, the noise level in the hall, the distance from guests and how the robot sounds in real operating conditions. ## Examples from past projects At the company's 130th anniversary celebration in Třešť, the programme was built on more than 70 custom-recorded lines. The robot welcomed guests at the gate and introduced the owners' family on stage; see the [Podzimek 130 years case study](https://robotio.eu/case-study/podzimek-130-let-trest-2026). At the Slovak event [OneCore Business Breakfast in Bratislava](https://robotio.eu/case-study/onecore-business-breakfast-microsoft-bratislava), the robot R.U.D.A. performed at Microsoft. At the [T-Mobile T-Data & AI](https://robotio.eu/case-study/tmobile-t-data-ai-2026-bratislava-praha) conferences, three humanoids worked in two countries over two days, including a panel discussion on AI in Prague. Both events show why language and a scenario prepared in advance are important. For the leadership meeting of [TE Connectivity](https://robotio.eu/case-study/te-connectivity-alm-paris-2026) in Paris, three ROBOTio humanoids opened the programme. ## Where a multilingual robot is most useful - **Conferences and corporate meetings with an international audience.** The robot welcomes guests and supplements the introduction or a dialogue with the host; we set the language of communication according to the audience. More in the section on [robots for conferences](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type). - **Trade fairs.** Visitors from different countries pass your stand one after another. The robot addresses each of them in their own language. See [robots for trade fairs](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type). - **Technology events.** Guests expect the robot to hold a conversation, not just wave. A [robot for technology events](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) is a good fit. - **Corporate events and gala evenings.** The robot welcomes guests and can appear alongside the host; more in [robots for corporate events](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type). ## Which robot is suitable Conversation does not depend on the robot's height; height affects visibility. The [Unitree G1](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-basic) (135 cm) suits a narrower stand and photo opportunities. The Unitree H2 (180 cm) is clearly visible in a crowded hall or on stage. Both models are part of our rental service, always with operators. You can find the manufacturer on the [Unitree Robotics](https://robotio.eu/brands/unitree) page. We do not rent out models from other manufacturers, such as the [Tesla Optimus](https://robotio.eu/tesla-optimus); we only provide information about them. The alternative is a G1 or H2 from our fleet. ## What to watch out for - **Do not overestimate spontaneity.** The robot will answer simpler questions, but it is better to include complex queries in the scenario in advance. - **Noise.** In a noisy hall, conversation is harder than in a conference room. The operator adjusts the pace. - **Dialects and names.** Provide brand and product names in advance so that the robot pronounces them correctly. - **Timely approval.** Lines in several languages need time for review. Do not leave it to the final week. ## Frequently asked questions ### How many languages does the robot speak? The ROBOTio website is available in 13 languages. We set the specific languages for your event according to the audience and confirm them in the offer. ### Does the robot say only what has been recorded in advance? The persona and lines are prepared and approved in advance. Within them, the robot responds to the guest; the operator controls direction and gestures, so the programme remains under control. ### Who approves what the robot says? You do. We prepare the draft persona and lines, and you approve or amend them in advance. ### Does it also work outside Czechia? Yes. We travel around Czechia, Slovakia, Europe and to the Gulf (Dubai). The language is set according to the guests at the given event. ## Would you like a robot that addresses your guests in their own language?
