Article summary
Fourier GR-3 is a 165 cm care humanoid with 55 degrees of freedom and soft skin. We cover specifications, availability in the EU and which humanoid to deploy at corporate events.
Fourier GR-3 is a 165 cm tall humanoid robot from Shanghai-based Fourier, designed for senior care, rehabilitation and companionship, not for events. It weighs approximately 71 kg, features up to 55 degrees of freedom, a soft padded skin and 31 touch sensors. ROBOTio does not currently lease or sell it, and official distribution and service in the EU are not confirmed. If you need a humanoid for an event, we deploy Unitree G1 or H2 from our own fleet. ## What is Fourier GR-3 GR-3 is what Fourier calls a 'care-bot'. Fourier unveiled it at the WAIC conference in July 2025, officially released it on 6 August 2025, pre-orders began on 8 September 2025, and delivery to companies and institutions began in October 2025. The GR-3C 'Astronaut' variant was shown on 24 September 2025, and the US premiere was at CES in January 2026. The manufacturer [Fourier](https://robotio.eu/brands/fourier) was founded in Shanghai in 2015 as a maker of rehabilitation robots and exoskeletons. According to the company, its rehabilitation products are used by over 2,000 institutions in 40 countries. It entered the humanoid space with the GR-1 (2023), GR-2 (2024) and open-source N1 (2025). Investors include SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Prosperity7, IDG Capital and Guoxin, and the company has around 600 employees. Full profile can be found at [Fourier GR-3](https://robotio.eu/fourier-gr-3), other models in the [model overview](https://robotio.eu/models). ## Specifications per manufacturer - **Height and weight:** 165 cm, approx. 71 kg - **Degrees of freedom:** up to 55 (head 2, arms 7 × 2, waist 3, legs 6 × 2, optional hands with 12 DoF) - **Arm payload:** approx. 3 kg - **Walking speed:** 6.1 km/h - **Peak joint torque:** 440 N·m - **Battery:** 702 Wh + 234 Wh (hot-swap), runtime approx. 3 hours - **Compute unit:** AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, Ubuntu 22.04 - **Sensors:** head camera with eye display, 6-axis IMU, 4 microphones with voice localisation, 31 touch sensors on head and torso - **Skin:** soft padded 'GFOAM' in Morandi colours Compared to GR-2 (175 cm, 63 kg, 53 DoF, runtime two hours), GR-3 is shorter but heavier. This is due to the soft skin and dual battery. It features 55 degrees of freedom and three hours of runtime. ## What the robot can do The key theme is multimodal interaction. The robot sees, hears and feels touch, so it responds to stroking, tapping or hugging. Conversations are handled via language models, it can localise the speaker and track motion. The soft skin and animal-like head shape are designed to lower barriers with seniors and children. Support for specific languages in production depends on integration, so it cannot be guaranteed that it will speak Czech. Fourier outlines these deployment scenarios: - **Senior care:** companion, medication reminders, supervision. The robot is primarily designed for this scenario. - **Rehabilitation and hospitals:** cognitive training and guidance. A demo was held at PERKESO rehabilitation centre in Malaysia in June 2026. - **Education and research:** SDK and open-source examples of RL training for universities and labs. - **Reception and tours:** welcoming, guiding and information provision in institutions. ## Price and availability Fourier has not publicly disclosed the price and provides it on request. Resellers outside China, according to available information, quote significantly higher values than those mentioned at launch. The only reliable option is to request a quote from the manufacturer or distributor. Fourier sells to companies and institutions through resellers, primarily in China. In the EU, no official distribution or service network is yet confirmed. For care equipment, however, service and certification in the EU are essential. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed these. ROBOTio monitors GR-3 but does not lease or supply it. If a healthcare or social institution is considering it, we can verify availability, service and EU compliance as part of [procurement consulting](https://robotio.eu/services/sales). Operator training is provided by [ROBOTio Academy](https://robotio.eu/academy). ## What this means for corporate events GR-3 is designed for sustained interaction with one person in a calm environment. Corporate events have different demands: noise, crowds, scripted programming and stage movement. GR-3 has no confirmed support or service for these scenarios in the EU and is not in our fleet. The theme of care and touch makes sense, for example, at [healthcare conferences](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) or [trade fairs](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) focused on medical technology. For such audiences, we have prepared an MedTech Europe framework where the programme is a technology demonstration, not entertainment. ### What to deploy instead of GR-3 - **[Unitree G1](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-basic)** (135 cm) greets guests, converses, poses for photos and can handle performances. It speaks in the language the guest addresses it in (web supports 13 languages). - **Unitree H2** (180 cm) is taller and more visible from the stage and crowd. - Both have two operators throughout. The robot maintains movement and balance autonomously; the operator directs heading and gestures. Persona and scripts are approved in advance. Similar deployments at conferences are shown in the [T-Mobile T-Data & AI](https://robotio.eu/case-study/tmobile-t-data-ai-2026-bratislava-praha) case study, where humanoids performed in Bratislava and Prague. ## Frequently asked questions ### Can Fourier GR-3 be hired for an event? No. GR-3 is not in our fleet. For events we deploy Unitree G1 and H2, which can handle greeting, conversation, photo poses and performances. Terms are available at [rental](https://robotio.eu/robot-rental). ### How much does GR-3 cost? The manufacturer has not disclosed the price. You need to request it from Fourier or a distributor. ### Is GR-3 available in Europe? It is sold to companies, primarily in China. In the EU, there is as yet no official distribution or service network. We are happy to verify current availability for your specific project. ### How does GR-3 differ from GR-2? GR-3 is a care model: shorter (165 cm), with soft skin, 31 touch sensors, eye display, 55 DoF and three hours of runtime. GR-2 (175 cm, 53 DoF) targets research and industry. ## Want a humanoid for your event?
