Article summary
DOBOT LUMO L1 is a 124 cm humanoid for education, research and presentations in two versions. Find specifications, availability and implications for your corporate event.
DOBOT LUMO L1 is a 124 cm tall humanoid by Chinese manufacturer DOBOT Robotics, which the maker positions for education, research, exhibition guiding and presentations. It is available in Standard and Max versions. ROBOTio does not currently lease or sell it: we do not have it in our fleet, we are not an official DOBOT distributor, and for us it remains an information profile. If you need a humanoid for an event, we will deploy Unitree G1 or H2 from our own fleet. ## What is DOBOT LUMO L1 LUMO is the flagship humanoid model of the [DOBOT](https://robotio.eu/brands/dobot) brand, which we follow. DOBOT is a Chinese manufacturer based in Shenzhen, founded in 2015. It produces collaborative arms, desktop and educational robots, and two lines of humanoids: LUMO for interaction, education and presentations, and the industrial ATOM. In Europe, DOBOT operates through DOBOT Europe GmbH in Neu-Isenburg. The LUMO manufacturer describes it as a platform that: - perceives space in 3D and, according to the maker, can independently approach people, - recognises emotions and intentions from images and voice, - runs on its own embodied AI model DobotWAM and learns from interactions, - maintains long-term memory of interactions; data is stored locally according to the manufacturer, - is open to further development (motion control, SLAM navigation, visual perception). All of the above are manufacturer claims. We have not tested LUMO at an event ourselves, so we do not present them as verified capabilities. ## Parameters and differences between versions According to the manufacturer: - **Dimensions (H × W × D):** 1,240 × 560 × 244 mm - **Weight with battery:** approx. 40.5 kg (Standard), approx. 41 kg (Max) - **Degrees of freedom:** 30 (head 1, waist 3, arms 7, legs 6) - **Load per arm:** 1.5 kg without gripper - **Max. torque at joint:** 130 N·m - **Battery life:** approx. 2 hours under normal movement - **Operating temperature:** 0–40 °C - **Interaction:** 4 microphones, speaker, display with "face", RGB light strip, head touch sensor (5 zones) - **Connectivity:** Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 ### Standard vs. Max The versions differ in perception and computational power. Standard runs on a Rockchip RK3588 chip (6 TOPS). Max adds a stereo RGB-D camera, 3D LiDAR and an NVIDIA Jetson Thor T4000 unit (1,200 TFLOPS in FP4). For spatial orientation and environmental interaction, Max is therefore more interesting. Standard is better suited for scenarios where voice, display and pre-programmed routines suffice. Batteries are supplied separately depending on the package. The robot comes with a remote control, charger and brief manual. ## Where the manufacturer sees it DOBOT identifies four areas: 1. **Research and education** – schools at all levels, motion control, SLAM, human–robot interaction. 2. **Exhibition guide** – welcoming visitors, navigation, presenting exhibits, answering questions. 3. **Cultural and entertainment programme** – dancing, handshakes, interactive games. 4. **Commercial performances** – product launches, shopping centre events, promotional activities. For organisers, the most relevant are [exhibitions](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) and [showrooms](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type). But an important distinction applies here, which we always consider when selecting a robot: pre-programmed motion, operator control and autonomous functions are three different things. This cannot be discerned from the manufacturer's marketing description. Only testing the specific function in the specific space will reveal what the robot can truly do in front of guests. ## What LUMO cannot do (or is not documented) Questions about LUMO serving coffee or popcorn appear. This is not documented. Popcorn at APEC PPSTI in February 2026 was served by the industrial humanoid ATOM from the same company, not LUMO. Coffee or ice cream is prepared by robotic arms. We prepare such concepts ([robot for popcorn](https://robotio.eu/popcorn-robot) and others) separately. What remains open is what matters for events: - Czech language support and SDK, - integration with our voice system, - order versions and availability in the EU, - support and documentation for the EU, - conditions for public demonstration. We are verifying this with the manufacturer for specific projects. Until that is complete, we will not deploy LUMO at events. ## What this means for your corporate event A battery life of around two hours, low arm load capacity and still-unverified support and language functionality mean one thing: for an event with a fixed schedule, LUMO cannot be relied on today. The same role—welcoming, conversation and photos—can be performed by Unitree G1 (135 cm) or H2 (180 cm). With our robots, you also reduce risks: - each robot is attended by two operators throughout, - the robot speaks the language in which the guest addresses it, and persona and responses are approved beforehand, - the robot maintains balance on its own; the operator controls direction and gestures, - we know how to manage space, safety and schedules. See an example in our case study [PX Party 2026 with three humanoids on one stage](https://robotio.eu/case-study/px-party-2026-tri-humanoidni-roboti). Find an overview of all models in the [robot models](https://robotio.eu/models) section. A specific entry point to our fleet is, for example, [Unitree G1](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-basic); the manufacturer is described on the [Unitree](https://robotio.eu/brands/unitree) page. ## Schools and education The LUMO manufacturer also targets schools. We currently build education on platforms we know well. For education, we offer ROBOTio Academy and [training and workshops](https://robotio.eu/services/training). We are evaluating LUMO as a potential future platform for educational programmes. If you are planning a [robot for schools](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type), let us know what you want students to do. We will recommend what we can provide right away. ## Frequently asked questions ### Can DOBOT LUMO be hired for an event in Czechia? Not yet. We do not have LUMO in our fleet. For events we deploy Unitree G1 and H2, which greet guests, converse with them and take photos. ### How big is LUMO and how long does the battery last? According to the manufacturer, it measures 124 cm and weighs approximately 40.5 kg (Standard) or 41 kg (Max). Battery life is approximately 2 hours under normal movement. ### What is the difference between Standard and Max versions? Max has an additional stereo RGB-D camera, 3D LiDAR and a more powerful NVIDIA Jetson Thor T4000 unit. Standard uses Rockchip RK3588. ### Does LUMO speak Czech? We are verifying Czech language support and integration with our voice system with the manufacturer for a specific configuration. We cannot promise this yet. ## Need a humanoid for your event?
