Boston Dynamics: Who Is Behind the Brand and How to Book Robots

Written by ROBOTio Team · · 6 min read

Article summary

Boston Dynamics is a US maker of advanced robotics, and its Atlas is a well-known humanoid. It cannot, however, be booked for events. Here are the facts and an available alternative: G1 and H2.

Boston Dynamics is a US manufacturer of dynamically advanced robotics based in Waltham, Massachusetts. However, its Atlas humanoid **cannot be booked for an event in Czechia or anywhere in Europe**. It is not commercially available for hire by third parties, and ROBOTio does not offer it. We can deliver a similar impact on stage or at your stand with [Unitree](https://robotio.eu/brands/unitree) humanoids from our own fleet, namely the G1 and H2 models, always with two operators for each robot. ## Who Is Behind the Boston Dynamics Brand Boston Dynamics is a US company from Waltham, Massachusetts. It is among the world's most respected manufacturers of dynamically advanced robotics. Its [brand page in our overview](https://robotio.eu/brands/boston-dynamics) is listed among the brands we monitor: we provide information about the manufacturer, but we do not hire out its robots. The company's most visible product is the Atlas humanoid. It is one of the best-known humanoid platforms in the world and has featured in many media appearances and viral videos. This is precisely why event organisers often come across it and ask whether it can be booked. ## What Atlas Can Do According to the manufacturer's data, which we cite in the [Atlas information profile](https://robotio.eu/boston-dynamics-atlas), this is the fully electric generation from 2024: - height of 190 cm and weight of 90 kg, - 56 degrees of freedom for natural movement, - reach of 2.3 m and instantaneous payload of up to 50 kg, - battery life of up to 4 hours (2 hours under load), with autonomous battery swap in roughly 3 minutes, - tactile fingers and palm for handling objects, 360° camera system, - IP67 rating and operating temperature from -20 to 40 °C, - detection of people and operation without protective fencing. According to our model overview, the first production units are heading to Hyundai and to Google DeepMind research. Atlas is therefore intended mainly for industrial deployment and research, not for the events market. ## Can Atlas Be Booked for an Event? No. Atlas is not available for hire by third parties. It cannot be reserved, which is why we cannot give you a price or a date for it. If someone offers you "Atlas at your event", please verify exactly what you would be getting. The same applies to other models that we track on our website for information purposes only, such as the [Tesla Optimus](https://robotio.eu/tesla-optimus), [Figure 03](https://robotio.eu/figure-03) or [Xiaomi CyberOne](https://robotio.eu/xiaomi-cyberone). You will find an overview in the [model comparison](https://robotio.eu/comparison-of-models) and in our [up-to-date article on which humanoids can be booked for an event](https://robotio.eu/blog/humanoidi-2026-ktere-roboty-lze-objednat-na-akci). ## What to Choose Instead of Atlas: Unitree G1 and H2 For events where Atlas would be a good fit, we deploy humanoids from our own fleet: - **Unitree G1** (135 cm): a compact humanoid that fits at a stand, in a showroom or among guests. In our fleet these are the robots R.U.D.A. and R.I.C.O. You can find details on the [G1 Basic](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-basic) and [G1 EDU](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-edu) models. - **Unitree H2** (180 cm): a more imposing figure for the stage and large spaces. It is roughly the height of an adult. - **Up to 4 humanoids** at a single event, if you want a greater impact. The robot speaks the language in which a guest addresses it (the website supports 13 languages). The persona and lines are approved in advance. The robot maintains its own movement and balance, while an operator controls direction and gestures. Two operators remain with each robot throughout, so you do not have to handle technical supervision yourselves. You can find all models in the [fleet overview](https://robotio.eu/models). ## Which Events Suit a Robot In the manufacturer's description, Atlas is recommended for professional conferences, technology trade fairs, launch events, museums and media productions. We cover the same types of events with humanoids from our fleet: - [robot for technology events](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) and [conferences](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type), - [robot for trade fairs](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type), drawing visitors to your stand, - [robot for product presentations](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) and launch events. Our projects show how this works in practice. The video from the Brilon × Aquatherm trade fair at PVA Expo Letňany has more than 2 million views ([case study](https://robotio.eu/case-study/pva-letnany-otevreni-haly)). In Paris, three humanoids opened a TE Connectivity leadership meeting ([case study](https://robotio.eu/case-study/te-connectivity-alm-paris-2026)). In 2026 we have given more than 70 performances in six countries. We travel across Czechia, Slovakia, Europe and also to the Gulf (Dubai). If you would like a larger programme, we offer the ROBOrevue show: a five-minute performance by three humanoids and three live dancers, which requires a stage or dedicated area of at least 12 × 6 m. ## How to Proceed with Your Enquiry 1. Describe the type of event, venue, date and number of guests. 2. Tell us what the robot should do: welcome guests, host, pose for photos, dance or give a demonstration at a stand. 3. Let us know whether you need a specific language or persona. 4. Submit the enquiry form. You will receive an offer within 24 hours. We can arrange dates for humanoids from our fleet even for this week. For a custom choreography or script, please allow 1–2 weeks. The price is set individually according to the type of event, length of deployment and location, and we do not publish it on the website.
