Boston Dynamics Atlas: Specifications, Availability and Event Role

Article summary
Boston Dynamics' Atlas stands 190 cm tall and has 56 degrees of freedom, but it is not available for hire. What are its specifications, and which robot can you use at your corporate event instead? A summary of the facts.
Boston Dynamics Atlas is a fully electric humanoid robot, 190 cm tall and weighing 90 kg, designed for industrial deployment. However, you cannot hire it for a corporate event: the manufacturer does not offer it for rental to third parties, and ROBOTio does not have it in its fleet. For conferences, trade fairs and launch events, we therefore deploy Unitree G1 and H2 humanoids with our own operators. This article summarises what we know about Atlas and what it means for your planning. ## What Atlas Is and Who Makes It Atlas is developed by [Boston Dynamics](https://robotio.eu/brands/boston-dynamics). On our [robot models page](https://robotio.eu/models), we list it as the fully electric generation from 2024. According to our sources, the first production units are to go to Hyundai and to Google DeepMind's research. This is key information for event organisers. Atlas is not currently conceived as an event product that you can order for a single evening. It has different customers and a different purpose. You can find a more detailed information profile on the [Boston Dynamics Atlas](https://robotio.eu/boston-dynamics-atlas) page. The technical data there is taken from the manufacturer. ## Technical Specifications According to the Manufacturer The basic figures are as follows: - **Height:** 190 cm - **Weight:** 90 kg - **Degrees of freedom:** 56 DoF - **Reach:** 2.3 m - **Battery:** up to 4 hours, 2 hours under load - **Payload:** up to 50 kg (momentary) In addition, it offers the following features: - all-electric platform with quiet operation, - tactile fingers and palm for handling objects, - 360° camera system for spatial awareness, - IP67 resistance to dust and water, - autonomous battery swap in approximately 3 minutes, - operating temperature from -20 to 40 °C, - safety system with person detection and operation without protective fencing. By way of comparison: with our robots, we always arrange the safety zone and interaction with the audience individually, with two operators for each machine. ## Is Atlas Available? No. Atlas is not commercially available for rental to third parties. ROBOTio does not offer it for rental or for sale. There is no point in reserving it, and we have no price for it, because we do not offer it. If you come across an offer of "Atlas at your event", ask who actually operates the robot and who is liable for it. For a broader overview of which models can be booked for an event and which cannot, see the article [Humanoids 2026: Which Robots Can Be Booked for an Event](https://robotio.eu/blog/humanoidi-2026-ktere-roboty-lze-objednat-na-akci). We also cover the brand in the text [Boston Dynamics Atlas: Can It Be Hired for an Event?](https://robotio.eu/blog/boston-dynamics-atlas-kdo-za-znackou-stoji-akce). ## Events for Which Atlas Would Make Sense According to its information profile, Atlas is intended for: - professional conferences and opening ceremonies, - technology trade fairs and expo zones, - AI and robotics demonstrations, - launch events and brand presentations, - museums, science centres and universities, - TV, film and media production, - VIP events and futuristic installations. It is therefore a choice for situations where maximum technological impact and media coverage are the goal. The profile also states that it is optimised for professional indoor presentations, that is, conference halls, expo halls, showrooms and studio environments. However, we can cover the same scenarios in other ways. The aim is for visitors to enjoy a powerful experience, not for a specific model to be standing on the stage. ## What to Deploy Instead of Atlas From our own fleet, we offer the following models: - **Unitree G1** (135 cm): a compact humanoid that can handle the stage, the stand and networking. You can find it as [Unitree G1 Basic](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-basic) or [Unitree G1 EDU](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-edu). - **Unitree H2** (180 cm): the closest to Atlas in height, suitable where the robot stands on a stage or in an entrance hall. The H2 is currently on long-term hire. - **Unitree Go2 robot dog**: a four-legged addition for activations and photos. We deploy up to 4 humanoids at a single event. The robot speaks the language in which a guest addresses it (the website supports 13 languages). We approve the persona and the lines in advance. The robot maintains its own movement and balance, while the operator controls direction and gestures. Each robot has two operators throughout. Technical supervision, transport, installation and insurance are also included. ### How It Works in Practice On our website, you can browse deployments at [technology events](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type), [trade fairs](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) and [conferences](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type). Among our projects, it is worth looking at [Brilon × Aquatherm at PVA Letňany](https://robotio.eu/case-study/pva-letnany-otevreni-haly), where the video from the trade fair received over 2 million views. Another is [TE Connectivity ALM Paris 2026](https://robotio.eu/case-study/te-connectivity-alm-paris-2026), where three humanoids opened the leadership meeting. You can find more about the differences between the models in our [comparison of humanoid robots](https://robotio.eu/comparison-of-models). ## What This Means for Planning Your Event 1. **Do not plan around a model; plan around the experience.** A brief such as "we need Atlas" is better reframed as "we need a humanoid that will open the conference and last the whole day". 2. **Check who operates the robot.** Two operators, technical supervision and insurance are not a bonus but a basic requirement. 3. **Allow for time.** For humanoids from our fleet, we can also accommodate dates this week. For a bespoke choreography or script, allow 1–2 weeks. 4. **Request a tailored quotation.** We do not publish prices; we set them according to the type of event, the length of deployment and the location. We send our proposal within 24 hours. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Is Atlas available on individual request? No. Boston Dynamics Atlas is not commercially available for rental to third parties, and ROBOTio does not offer it. For your event, we deploy humanoids from our fleet. ### Which robot should I deploy instead of Atlas? For conferences, trade fairs, product launches and AI demonstrations, we deploy the Unitree G1 or H2. At 180 cm tall, the H2 is the closest to Atlas, while the G1 is more compact. ### Are operators included with the robots from your fleet? Yes. Each humanoid comes with two operators for the entire duration of the event, as well as technical supervision, transport, installation and insurance. ### How far in advance should I send my enquiry? We can also accommodate dates this week. If you would like a bespoke choreography or script, allow 1–2 weeks. ## Would You Like a Humanoid at Your Event? Tell us about your event, the venue and your objective, and we will propose a robot from our own fleet. Simply complete a non-binding enquiry on the [humanoid robot rental](https://robotio.eu/robot-rental) page and you will receive our proposal within 24 hours.Want to see a humanoid at your own event?
