Article summary

Apptronik Apollo 2 is an industrial humanoid from pilots at Mercedes-Benz, GXO and Jabil. Specifications, status and availability – and why to deploy Unitree G1 or H2 at your event.

Apptronik Apollo 2 is an American industrial humanoid for manufacturing and logistics, currently operating only in partner pilots. It cannot be purchased or hired, and you cannot deploy it at a corporate event. ROBOTio does not have it in its fleet and offers Unitree G1 and H2 with dedicated operators for events. This article summarises what we know about Apollo 2 and what it means for your event. ## What Is Apptronik Apollo 2 Apollo is being developed by Apptronik, a Texas-based company founded in 2016 out of the Human Centered Robotics laboratory at the University of Texas. The first Apollo was unveiled on 23 August 2023. Apptronik announced Apollo 2 in June 2026, together with the opening of Robot Park, an 8,400 m² training hall in Austin where data is collected. It is a robot designed for factories and warehouses. It was not created as a showpiece or an event host. You can find more in the [Apptronik Apollo 2 model profile](https://robotio.eu/apptronik-apollo) and on the [Apptronik brand page](https://robotio.eu/brands/apptronik). ## Specifications According to the Manufacturer Apptronik has not published a specification table for Apollo 2. The verified figures come from the 2023 launch: - **Height and weight:** 173 cm and 73 kg, - **Payload:** 25 kg, - **Batteries:** swappable, with a runtime of 4 hours; according to the manufacturer, they enable operation 22 hours a day, 7 days a week, - **Apollo 2 configuration:** two-legged or wheeled base, - **Sensors:** two cameras as "eyes" and a chest display showing telemetry, - **Software:** Artemis (perception, planning, control, safety) and Fleet Connect for fleet management. The manufacturer has not disclosed degrees of freedom, speed or computing power. The price is also unknown, and the robot is not on sale. ## What the Robot Can Do - **Battery swapping:** enables near-continuous operation. - **Legs or wheels:** depending on the task and the floor. Apptronik no longer offers the earlier stationary variant on a pedestal. - **Safety zones:** an adjustable perimeter zone and an "impact zone" that stops the robot immediately. - **Artificial intelligence:** Apollo 2 collects data for Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics models. Gemini Robotics 2 was demonstrated on it in July 2026. Google is also an investor in Apptronik. - **Robot lineage:** Apptronik builds on experience from NASA's Valkyrie robot and 15 previous robots. ## Where It Is Deployed and Its Current Status Apollo is still in the pilot phase: - **Mercedes-Benz (automotive):** agreement since March 2024, with trials at the Digital Factory Campus in Berlin-Marienfelde and at the Kecskemét plant. In March 2025, Mercedes-Benz invested a low double-digit million euro sum in Apptronik. - **GXO (logistics):** multi-phase research and pilot programme since June 2024. - **Jabil (manufacturing):** has been testing Apollo in its own factories since February 2025. The company raised a USD 415 million Series A (2025) and a USD 520 million Series A-X in February 2026. In total it has roughly USD 1 billion in funding and approximately 300 employees. Sales have been announced only with the Apollo 3 generation, with no date given. ## What This Means for Corporate Events Apollo is the closest of all American humanoids to Czechia, as it works at Mercedes-Benz in Europe. However, it is not intended for events and cannot be ordered. For an organiser, this has three implications: - **Do not count on it in your programme.** Nobody hires it out for trade fairs or conferences. - **There is an alternative for an automotive audience.** We can deploy a humanoid from our fleet at [automotive events](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) and [trade fairs](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type). - **A live demonstration is useful for management.** Before a company invests in an industrial humanoid, we can show at [technology events](https://robotio.eu/robot-hire-by-event-type) what today's humanoids can and cannot do. ## What to Choose Instead of Apollo: Unitree G1 and H2 At events, we deploy humanoids from our own fleet: [Unitree G1](https://robotio.eu/unitree-g1-basic) (130 cm) and Unitree H2 (180 cm) from the [Unitree brand](https://robotio.eu/brands/unitree). Each robot comes with two operators for the entire duration of the event. The robot speaks the language in which a guest addresses it, and the persona and lines are approved in advance. The robot maintains its own balance, while the operator controls direction and gestures. Our past projects illustrate this in practice: [three humanoids at PX Party 2026](https://robotio.eu/case-study/px-party-2026-tri-humanoidni-roboti), [Forbes Next Big Thing in Brno](https://robotio.eu/case-study/forbes-next-big-thing-2026-brno) and [T-Mobile T-Data & AI](https://robotio.eu/case-study/tmobile-t-data-ai-2026-bratislava-praha). If you would like to compare the wider market, please see our [overview of models](https://robotio.eu/models). If you are planning an industrial pilot, we are monitoring when Apptronik will open its commercial programme, and we are preparing a comparison with Digit, Walker S2 and AgiBot G2. However, the decision to purchase an industrial robot remains outside our event offering. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Can Apollo 2 be purchased or hired?
