NEO is developed by [the 1X Technologies brand](https://robotio.eu/brands/1x), which was founded in 2014 in Moss, Norway, under the name Halodi Robotics. Today the company is headquartered in Palo Alto and manufactures in Hayward, California. The manufacturer positions NEO as a humanoid for ordinary households: tidying, carrying items, opening doors and minor domestic tasks. Two technical distinctive features: - **A soft body** made of a 3D lattice polymer, with no hard edges. - **The Tendon Drive system**, which keeps weight low and operation quiet. ## Specifications According to the Manufacturer All figures come from the manufacturer and have not been independently verified: - **Height and weight:** 168 cm, 30 kg. - **Degrees of freedom:** approximately 75, of which 22 in each hand. New hands with 25 degrees of freedom, including the wrist, were announced in July 2026. - **Load capacity:** carries 25 kg, lifts 70 kg. - **Walking speed:** 1.4 m/s. - **Battery:** 842 Wh, approximately 4 hours of operation. Charging takes roughly 6 minutes per hour of work. - **Noise level:** 22 dB. - **Sensors:** stereo cameras, 4 microphones, tactile sensors in the fingers. - **Computing unit:** NEO Cortex on the NVIDIA Jetson Thor platform. - **AI:** proprietary Redwood AI model, voice conversation and scene understanding. - **Durability:** hands IP68, body IP44. NEO is not fully autonomous. It handles routine tasks on its own. For an unfamiliar task, the owner can summon a remote 1X operator (Expert Mode), who guides the robot through it, and the robot then learns the task. To protect privacy, the manufacturer cites no-go zones and face blurring. ## Status and Availability Timeline based on the available sources: - 30 August 2024: the NEO Beta version was introduced. - 21 February 2025: the Gamma version was introduced, with a slimmer design for the home. - 28 October 2025: consumer pre-orders opened. According to the manufacturer, first-year capacity sold out in five days. - 30 April 2026: the factory in Hayward opened. - 9 July 2026: new hands were announced. As of September 2026, the press reports no verified deliveries to private customers. The price published by the manufacturer applies only to the USA and relates to the pre-order. 1X has not published a European price, so we do not state any figure in this article. Outside the home, NEO appears in two scenarios. The first units are working at the 1X factory, where they supplement components and operate the warehouse. The partnership with the investor EQT envisages deployment in companies from its portfolio, with pilots in the USA from 2026. Europe and events do not feature in this so far. ## What This Means for Corporate Events Three reasons not to plan for NEO at an event today: 1. **It is unobtainable.** ROBOTio neither hires out nor sells it, and it is not yet sold in Europe. 2. **It is designed for a different environment.** For a quiet home and household chores, not for the noise and crowds of a trade fair, stage or conference. 3. **There is no track record.** We have no experience with it in event operation, and no verified references from events exist. No. NEO is being delivered to customers in the USA first, and ROBOTio does not have it on offer. For events, we deploy the G1 and H2. ### How much does the 1X NEO cost? The manufacturer states a price for the USA only. It has not published a European price.
